Restore Missing Teeth Permanently
Implant Dentistry
Implants are an incredible advancement in the field of dentistry, and they give patients with missing teeth the ability to restore their smiles permanently. Since implants mimic natural tooth roots, they have unique restorative benefits. If you are missing one or more teeth, dental implants can improve your health and the appearance of your smile.
Your Restoration Options
Single Tooth & Full Arch Implants
Single tooth restorations are the most common type of implant restoration. Single tooth implants consist of two parts: a single dental crown (a false tooth) and a small, titanium post (the implant itself). Full arch implants are also available for patients missing most or all of their teeth. Using 4-6 dental implants, one of our dentists will attach a set of removable or permanent dentures, or a non-removable dental bridge. If you’re missing multiple teeth, we’ll work with you to help you decide which restoration is right for your unique needs and preferences.
Permanent Restorations
What Is A Dental Implant?
Dental implants are small rod or screw-shaped pieces of titanium that are designed to be bone permanently with you gum and jaw tissue, and function as an artificial tooth root. After the implant bonds (or osseointegrates) with your gums and jaw, a beautifully-crafted restoration is attached, giving you a permanent, natural-looking replacement tooth.
What Can I Expect?
The Placement & Restoration Process
Once you have been approved for implants, Dr. Light or Dr. Conforti will begin the treatment process by making a small opening in your gum tissue and jaw, and placing the implant. As your jaw heals, the implant will bond with your tissue permanently, creating a stable platform to hold your restorations. This typically takes about 3-6 months.
During this time, we will work with a dental laboratory to develop your custom dental restoration. Once your implant has completely healed, one of our dentists will permanently attach your restoration, completing the process. You’ll leave our office with a complete, fully restored smile.
Protecting Your Smile
Provisional Restorations
Since healing from implant surgery can take a long time, we offer provisional restorations to protect your implants and the surrounding teeth as you heal. While these temporary restorations are not as durable as your permanent one will be, they give you the ability to smile, eat, and speak normally while your mouth is healing.
Candidates for Implants
Are Dental Implant Right For Me?
Dental implants are usually recommended for patients who have good overall oral health, and are free of issues like tooth decay and gum disease. Since gum and jaw must be strong enough to support dental implants, patients with weakened jaws due to bone resorption or other chronic health conditions may not be good candidates for implants. In some cases, though, bone grafts and sinus lifts can be used to strengthen the jaw, and allow for the placement of implants. During your consultation, we will thoroughly examine your teeth, gums, and jaw to determine whether implants are your best option.
